We can select, locate and install your fire blankets.
Key points to ensure a compliant installation.
- Each fire blanket shall be located in a conspicuous and readily accessible position.
- The blanket shall not be located in a position where access could present a hazard to the potential user.
- Fire blankets shall be installed by mounting containers on brackets which are sufficiently strong to withstand the loads imposed when removing the fire blanket from its container.
- Sufficient room shall be allowed so that the fire blanket can be quickly removed without impedance from nearby obstructions.
- Fire blankets shall be sited adjacent to an exit or along the normal path of travel to an exit.
- Considerations should be given to the type of fixings required.
- Location sign(s) shall be mounted at least 2m high and visible from all approach angles.
- A single location sign can be installed above multiple fire blankets in the one location.
- If adult clothing fires are considered part of the risk, a blanket size of at least 1.2 x 1.8m shall be selected.
Maintained to AS1851-2012
Fire blankets should be inspected every 6 months and stamped with a level 1 only. Our technicians inspect the fire blanket’s location, accessibility, signage, container/ instructions as well as the fire blanket itself. If a fire blanket is used, it shall be replaced, as blankets are single use disposable items.
Maintenance tags are stamped to reflect the date and level of service carried out and a report is emailed to the site contact.
