Fire hydrants are an essential secondary fire fighting device required to be installed around a building depending on its size and classification. Fire hydrants, when required, are located to provide complete building coverage and a controlled supply of water to either feed a DFES appliance or combat a fire directly via lay flat hoses and branch pipes.
Installed to AS2419.1-2005 (Yes DFES are still approving to 2005)
We can install a single hydrant or an entire hydrant system.
See Our Projects for some of the installations we have completed.

We provide fire hydrant servicing to ensure your safety and compliance. Having your fire hydrants serviced and tested is essential. As fire hydrant systems are used by DFES, it is vital that they are maintained and tested to standards.
All of our fire hydrant testing is carried out in accordance with standards by our technicians. Repairs to fire hydrants can be carried out when required and we carry a range of spare parts. We offer an emergency call out service, should a hydrant ever be damaged or run over.
Maintenance tags are stamped to reflect the date and level of service carried out and a report is emailed to the site contact.
Note: Fire hydrant systems that incorporate a booster are required to have a block plan and a notice of boost (working) and test pressures. This vital part of the system is all too often overlooked. We can develop, draw, engrave and install if required.
Frequency is 6 monthly, 12 monthly and 5 yearly.
A flow test conducted on the annual service. This test is conducted using a flow tube(s). Both the flow (L/s) and pressure (kPa) are recorded to ensure you are meeting minimum design flow requirements. Readings are taken from the most disadvantaged hydrant.
The 5 Yearly is performed by our specialist fire plumbers.
Hydrant valves are overhauled.
Booster inlets overhauled (for systems that incorporate a booster).
Fire hydrant system hydrostatic test – conducted after overhauls are complete.
Hydraulic loss test. This test requires the use of a fire appliance.
